easyTek App Reviews

Not for iPhone 6!

This app worked great with my iPhone 5, but until they do an upgrade it is worthless. Why doesnt Siemens at least tell us when this might happen?

Very good system/It works well when.....

It takes a little bit of understanding to get all the systems in sync all the time. When everything is connected it works like a charm. However, if you do not set up the pairing each morning, the programming apparatus tends to go off on its own and decides the program best for your environment, which is impossible to change without reconnecting the devices.

Works Well

The only major thing I have a issue with is volume control and bass/treble control. I would like the option to place them back into their default position or have an indicator on the adjuster line for the neutral location. Also, would it be possible to have a feature that turns off the hearing aid microphones when listening to music via streaming to allow more quieter listening.

Updated to 1.4.3

App works as expected. However, the touch control within the easyTek app is buggy. You can get it to work but the volume button is maxed out yet the aids are at the default volume set by the dispenser. This occurs on any program that is programmed by the dispenser. Disable the touch Control within easyTek and use the separate touchControl app when not using your easyTek or you dont have it with you. The touchControl app works flawlessly. Be advised that you can eliminate ambient noise when streaming any audio. This procedure is in your manual.

Great App with Minor bugs

I also experienced the problem another reviewer noted about using the TouchControl functions with the EasyTek App, but the solution of using the TouchControl App works. App is pretty intuitive and gives great control over HAs. Especially like the configurator adjuster available in Universal program. The developer needs to do a better job of letting customers reach them for support. The support link here just takes you to the Siemens corporate site-no links to customer support of the apps.

Great!!

Easy to use, allows freedom from adjusting hearing aids on the ear

Almost Great, not quite yet

The app does what it represents, although not completely initiatively, and not repeatedly reliable, which is a PROBLEM for a medical device app. After much frustration and time searching for answers I stumbled on a “work-around” for a big issue. The problem: you set the program mode you want for the hearing aid and when the phone is closed the easyTek reverts to “Music Player.” The workaround is that when starting the phone, and anytime bluetooth is turned back on, swipe from bottom of phone screen, select AirPlay, and change it from easyTek to iPhone. Whenever easyTek connects AirPlay defaults to easyTek instead of the phone. As long as AirPlay remains on iPhone you no longer loose your program selections when closing the phone or the app.

Awful product - Avoid Like The Plague!

Update 5/12/2015 - Ive just had my FOURTH EasyTek die. This one in less than a week. No useful info from Siemens. The 4.21.2015 update didnt help at all. Still a battery killer. 41% in a recent check. Im on my 3rd device. Very unreliable. The 4 loud beeps when Bluetooth connects and disconnects is really annoying especially since every time you use Siri you get 4 beeps. Siris beep. And the 4 more beeps. Their ux person must have worked on old 8-bit video games! 1) Absolutely the biggest battery killer I’ve ever seen for an iPhone app. If I lightly use it I’ll get most of the way through the day on a charge. If I use it for any period of time I’ll need to charge the iPhone 2x a day. The Usage panel shows that EasyTek uses 1/3 to 3/4 of the battery between charges. 2) Bluetooth isn’t terribly reliable. Sometime it will connect, sometimes it won’t. I find that I’m manually reconnecting 2x a day. 3) Bluetooth isn’t terribly flexible. Switching connection between phone and laptop (for a VoIP app) isn’t reliable and often requires lots of fiddling. 4) Connect and disconnect tones are pretty annoyingly implemented. Especially when you try to use it with Siri. You get the easyTek tones and the Siri tones. 5) Battery indicators are nearly useless for both the instruments and the easyTek. Week old batteries show full and then go to zero instantly. The easyTek battery indicator doesn’t have enough granularity to catch that a charge is going to be needed soon. 6) I’ve had to use the pinhole to reset the easyTek. It went from working to frozen. None of the lights lit, none of the buttons worked and it wouldn’t charge. 7) I’d expect more battery life from the device itself. I’ve had days where I’ve had to charge it mid-day. In summary, for $5,000 hearing aids and from a company like Siemens I’d expect a much more polished product. ** iPhone 6, latest OS.

Poor product-poorer customer service

The only thing worse than the easyTek as a product is the "customer service" I experienced after my easyTek stopped working. Over rated and overpriced. Never would be too soon to buy another Siemans product.

Does not load App shows blacks

This app does not load on Apple touch iOS 8.3 or 8.4. It did work on my iPhone 4 with iOS 7. I installed this app on 4 devices total as a test.3 Apple touch, 2 using iOS 8.3, 1 using iOS 8.4 and one iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 worked.

Bad software after most recent update

Ive Always been fond of the easytek integration with my hearing aid, but since the last app update on the iPhone it started accusing that my induction cable is disconnected and I can no longer use the easytek. I wish a new update is made available. Thanks

When it connects works ok.

This works in conjunction with an accessory for those using Siemens brand hearing aids (with Bluetooth capabilities). This product is pretty horrible. Majority of time it fails to sync for a variety of reasons. Tells me the hearing aids will not sync, my cables are not connected (despite fact they are), or just wont connect. When it connects, works well. The phone comes in well, streams music! Is very nice and worth the couple hundred dollars I paid. However, I feel part of disappointment when it is connected stems from my audiologist and her lack of knowledge in setting up a hearing aid properly. So for that, I cant blame the app/accessory. Though if it connected say, 95% of time Id rate it higher. Cant use it if it doesnt connect. Am to point I may return hearing aids and accessory. I want a Bluetooth enabled aid that works.

Just OK

Need to restart hearing aids every time I want to use the application. Then, it keeps telling me the volume is too low. After going through all the adjustments, it works.

Uses up battery

Uses the battery with background activity. This is very frustrating. Please fix.

Frustrated

So frustrating! Had an update to neck loop now phone app cannot pair with hearing aids!

Power Drain

App does everything it says it will do - giving control over many settings to the user of the aids. Problem 1: Even when the app is not open, it runs in the background and uses insane amounts of battery power. The ap needs a sleep mode where it stops using the Bluetooth function unless the app is open. Fix this please! Problem 2: On multiple occasions it will not acknowledge the easytek is on and is connected to the hearing aids. These two issues with the easytek functionality detract from the overall superior quality of the hearing aids. The Phonak iCom uses substantially less juice and never fails to connect with the hearing aids - so these issues are fixable...

Awesom

Have been using this application for some time. I have had no problems with the program. I am over 80 yrs old and using this program which should tell a user something.

OK--I guess

Doesnt always recognize hearing aids right away and connecting often requires several attempts. Treble/bass adjustment doesnt seem to make much difference. Volume bar doesnt always respond to medallions volume control. Need more use time for final evaluation.

Beggars cant be choosers

Concept is great, execution not so much. Takes too long to switch between modes, signal strength of Bluetooth is poor.

Lukewarm Like

The app is very much like the famous Little Girl, "when she was good, she was very, very good. And when she was bad, she was horrid." Recognizing that hearing instruments appears to be a whimsical exercise that, at best. It is not consistent. It takes far too long each day, and during the day, to have the iPhone and the hearing instruments both pair with the app. If you are prepared for some frustration, but also anxious to find what is, at least allegedly, the state of the art system, you should try it.
